It is hit with a short snappy hitting action, making it more suitable to play when you are off balance. Due to the short action, it is more of a controlled smash in badminton.<\/span><!-- notionvc: 2d0f3fd7-72f3-476f-a090-4d14fc2e9ce1 --><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-755b9d7 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"755b9d7\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>There are <strong>4 important differences<\/strong> between the stick smash and the standard smash:<\/p><p class=\"p1\"><!-- notionvc: 5087a4f5-f0e1-4f49-9830-fd32a84053bb --><\/p><ol><li>The stick smash has <strong>less power<\/strong> than the standard smash.<\/li><li>You can hit the stick smash from a <strong>variety of positions<\/strong> &#8211; both when you\u2019re in a good position, or unlike the standard smash, when you\u2019re taking it a little later.<\/li><li>You have a <strong>slower swing speed in the stick smash<\/strong> and when your elbow is roughly in line with your body, it almost <strong>stops and stays in the same position<\/strong> (compared to moving forwards and down in the standard smash). Jump Smash<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-fc4d658 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"fc4d658\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"p1\">The jump smash is when you<strong> jump up<\/strong> to the shuttle to get more angle and force on the shot when you smash it down.<\/p><p class=\"p1\">This is the one that\u2019s <span class=\"notion-enable-hover\" data-token-index=\"1\">difficult to master but everyone wants to do!<\/span><!-- notionvc: 71b64bf3-9e3c-4849-9219-2123757339f8 --><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-a31ecaf elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"a31ecaf\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>There are <strong>two main benefits<\/strong> to using a jump smash as opposed to the other\u00a0 smashes:<\/p><p class=\"p1\"><!-- notionvc: d37c0370-d34f-466b-a896-cb5c692fea70 --><\/p><ol><li>You have a <strong>higher contact point<\/strong> with the shuttle and can <strong>create a better angle<\/strong> on your shot.<\/li><li>You can look more <strong>threatening<\/strong> and scare your opponents!<\/li><\/ol>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-fe87a18 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"fe87a18\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"p1\">A very important point is that you should <span class=\"notion-enable-hover\" data-token-index=\"1\">only use this type of smash<\/span> <span class=\"notion-enable-hover\" data-token-index=\"3\">when your opponent has hit a high lift,<\/span> and you have <span class=\"notion-enable-hover\" data-token-index=\"5\">time to get behind the shuttle AND jump up to it!<\/span> If you\u2019re behind it, but don\u2019t have the time to jump, then you should use the standard or stick smash instead.<!-- notionvc: be507b1d-bc41-4658-a7ef-30046bd2db36 --><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-19a7612 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"19a7612\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"p1\">You also need to <span class=\"notion-enable-hover\" style=\"font-weight: 600;\" data-token-index=\"1\">start the jump smash by facing sidewards, <\/span>and go down into a <span class=\"notion-enable-hover\" style=\"font-weight: 600;\" data-token-index=\"3\">half squat<\/span> to be able to jump as high as possible!
