Only Hitting Straight Shots<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-286d0077 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"286d0077\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"p1\">Only hitting straight shots is mainly a mistake when you\u2019re striking the shuttle at the top of the net height or lower.\u00a0<!-- notionvc: b986def5-7eb1-4c16-884b-62abb5f35b54 --><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-27c84241 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"27c84241\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>There are <strong>2 main reasons<\/strong> why only hitting straight shots from this position is a mistake:<\/p><p class=\"p1\"><!-- notionvc: 6ccf1bdd-9d20-4d69-bc22-fe8e187724eb --><\/p><ul><li><strong>It makes your shots from this position really predictable,<\/strong> meaning your opponent can prepare their body and racket position before you\u2019ve even struck the shuttle.<br \/><br \/><\/li><li><strong>It doesn\u2019t make your opponent twist and turn at all.<\/strong> Humans are fastest when moving in straight lines, so making your opponent twist and turn forces them to change direction, making them slower.<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-7f64352a elementor-blockquote--skin-boxed elementor-blockquote--align-center elementor-widget elementor-widget-blockquote\" data-id=\"7f64352a\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"blockquote.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<blockquote class=\"elementor-blockquote\">\n\t\t\t<p class=\"elementor-blockquote__content\">\n\t\t\t\t\ud83d\udca1 This doesn\u2019t mean you should start playing everything cross-court though, as this is not effective too!\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/blockquote>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-76509b53 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"76509b53\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"p1\">Instead, we recommend you use an under-rated and under-used shot &#8211; a <span class=\"notion-enable-hover\" style=\"font-weight: 600;\" data-token-index=\"1\">\u2018half turn\u2019<\/span> to the middle. This is what the <span class=\"notion-enable-hover\" data-token-index=\"3\">better players do so well<\/span> to make it really difficult for their opponents.<!-- notionvc: d4caab9d-73ff-44b1-a1e2-37412b0d4148 --><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-1e4c757 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"1e4c757\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"p1\">You can use the half turn to make your opponents <span class=\"notion-enable-hover\" data-token-index=\"1\">slightly change direction <\/span>when they might be anticipating a straight shot. This is a similar concept to on-court where if you are too close to the net, then it\u2019s much harder to see what\u2019s happening.<!-- notionvc: 3ad05b3d-c7aa-427b-a9b2-688ea03f27a1 --><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-10c6ed6 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"10c6ed6\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"p1\">3) Being too close means <span class=\"notion-enable-hover\" style=\"font-weight: 600;\" data-token-index=\"1\">you can only cover the soft shots in front of the service line,<\/span> and your partner then has to cover everything else on the court. Even if you think your partner is a lot better than you, it\u2019s still not the right thing to do.<!-- notionvc: eda1d067-0af4-4893-adac-2cad5ccb866e --><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-555c40c elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"555c40c\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"p1\">4) <span class=\"notion-enable-hover\" style=\"font-weight: 600;\" data-token-index=\"1\">It shows a lot of space on the court to your opponents <\/span>and can make the game feel really easy for them.<!-- notionvc: 645e38ba-c1d8-41aa-a267-85072b07b6a1 --><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-1f3be3c elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"1f3be3c\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h5 class=\"p1\"><span class=\"notion-enable-hover\" style=\"font-weight: 600;\" data-token-index=\"0\">So what should you do instead?\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><!-- notionvc: 633a8bcb-3120-4ef4-8aca-fd9bd324b90e --><\/h5>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-505efb1 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"505efb1\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"p1\">Firstly, standing a little further back will make it much easier to react and see what\u2019s happening on the court. This is because the more likely shot from your opponents is either a soft net shot, or a high lift!<\/li><li>But if you or your partner <strong>plays a harder shot behind the service line,<\/strong> then we would recommend standing further back.
