Failing to comply with any one of these serving rules will be called a fault in a match where there is a service judge. However, the majority of people don&#8217;t play with a service judge so we will now look at each of these serving rules in depth.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-3e94b32d elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"3e94b32d\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">1. Both Feet Must Be In Contact With The Floor When Striking The Shuttle<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-152c13a0 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"152c13a0\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"p1\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">As you strike the shuttle, part of both feet must be in contact with the ground. Your Feet Must Not Be Touching Any Of The Court Lines<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-991cbe2 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"991cbe2\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"p1\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Your feet cannot be touching any of the lines on the court as you are serving or receiving. You Must Strike The Cork, Not The Feathers<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-8ea9ff1 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"8ea9ff1\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"p1\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">The BWF states that the base of the shuttle (the cork) must be struck first when serving.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-6c881f2 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"6c881f2\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"p1\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">This was added to the rules of the game as many players were gaining an advantage from hitting the feathers first and creating a huge amount of spin on the shuttle! The new rule is now used in all international tournaments.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-1731b14 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"1731b14\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p style=\"color: #333333;\">Despite this, the new rule is not currently used in clubs and domestic tournaments and the old service rule is still in place. In summary, the old service rule is:<\/p><ol style=\"font-size: 18px; background-color: #ffffff; color: #333333;\"><li style=\"font-size: 18px;\">&#8220;The whole shuttle shall be below the server\u2019s waist at the instant of being hit by the server\u2019s racket. The waist shall be considered to be an imaginary line round the body, level with the lowest part of the server\u2019s bottom rib.<\/li><li style=\"font-size: 18px;\">The shaft and the racket head of the server\u2019s racket at the instant of hitting the shuttle shall be pointing in a downward direction.&#8221; (BWF Alternative Service Laws 9.1.6).<\/li><\/ol>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-d167823 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"d167823\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"p1\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">We are unsure when and how the BWF will implement the new service rule into clubs and domestic tournaments around the world &#8211; unless they are going to provide everyone with one of the devices. Having said this, you will still need someone to look through it!<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-56a90fb elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"56a90fb\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">5. The Serve Must Be Delivered In A Forward Continuous Motion<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-e3f7bcd elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"e3f7bcd\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"p1\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Once you begin your backswing, the serve must be one continuous motion. At no point during the serving action can you pause.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-dd48151 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"dd48151\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p style=\"color: #333333;\">Examples of illegal serves under this rule include:<\/p><ul style=\"font-size: 18px; background-color: #ffffff; color: #333333;\"><li style=\"font-size: 18px;\">Stopping at the backswing and then moving forwards.<\/li><li style=\"font-size: 18px;\">Moving forwards and backwards multiple times before striking the shuttle.<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-46b6ed1 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"46b6ed1\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Is There A Time Limit On The Serve In Badminton?<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-79b4f2e elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"79b4f2e\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"p1\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Finally, we know many of you will argue about a server taking too longer in their serving action. This is seen quite a lot in badminton &#8211; it can be a result of the server wanting to take time to deliver a quality serve, or sometimes just because they want to frustrate their opponents and make them wait!
