Ankle Injuries In Badminton <\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-f612379 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"f612379\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p style=\"color: #333333;\">Starting at number 5 on our list is ankle injuries. Playing badminton involves lots of jumping, twisting and turning. These continuously explosive movements mean that we&#8217;ve seen a lot of rolled ankles over the years, whether it&#8217;s pushing off the ankle or landing awkwardly!<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-4b81fcf elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"4b81fcf\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p style=\"color: #333333;\">Whilst some people are more prone to ankle injuries, and often you can&#8217;t avoid them, there are 2 main ways to reduce the risk of an ankle injury when playing badminton:<\/p><ol style=\"font-size: 18px; background-color: #ffffff; color: #333333;\"><li style=\"font-size: 18px;\">Wear an ankle brace or strapping.<\/li><li style=\"font-size: 18px;\">Strengthen the ankle and the muscles, tendons and joints around it.<\/li><\/ol>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-2e57914 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" on one leg, and throw a ball against the wall and catch it with your racket hand. Each progression makes it harder to stabilise yourself, meaning your ankle has to work harder.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-cb2753e elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"cb2753e\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"p1\"><em style=\"color: #333333;\">Progression 1<\/em><span style=\"color: #333333;\">\u00a0&#8211; Stand on the floor.<\/span><br style=\"color: #333333;\" \/><em style=\"color: #333333;\">Progression 2<\/em><span style=\"color: #333333;\">\u00a0&#8211; Stand on a spongy surface or a towel.<\/span><br style=\"color: #333333;\" \/><em style=\"color: #333333;\">Progression 3<\/em><span style=\"color: #333333;\">\u00a0&#8211; Stand on a bosu ball.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-f4ab218 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"f4ab218\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">4. Feet Injuries In Badminton<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-b7aaedc elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"b7aaedc\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\">There are lots of bones in your foot and many injuries that can occur with these however the most common foot injury in badminton is in fact blisters. It&#8217;s\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: bolder; color: #333333;\">so important<\/span><span style=\"color: #333333;\">\u00a0to take good care of your feet.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-b1e5370 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"b1e5370\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\">We&#8217;ve unfortunately found this out the hard way. Losing a match, or struggling to get through a tough training session because of a blister that could have been avoided. Despite some blisters being unavoidable, many can be a result of new shoes or playing a lot when you&#8217;ve not played in a while.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-08744ff elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"08744ff\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"p1\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Blister plasters are not something we&#8217;d recommend for badminton because as soon as you get sweaty they just fall off your foot! Instead, we&#8217;d\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: bolder; color: #333333;\">always<\/span><span style=\"color: #333333;\">\u00a0recommend using Second Skin along with a bit of tape to secure it. It might seem quite expensive at first, but it is\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: bolder; color: #333333;\">definitely worth it<\/span><span style=\"color: #333333;\">!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-5510d6b elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"5510d6b\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"p1\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">There are also 200 squares in a box so if you use one 5 times per week, it will last you 40 weeks worth of blisters! Or if you just used it 2 times per week that&#8217;s 100 weeks &#8211; nearly 2 years!! Elbow Injuries In Badminton<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-18f0c6a elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"18f0c6a\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"p1\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">There are so many different types of elbow injuries, from Golfers Elbow to Tennis Elbow.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-bed4d5f elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"bed4d5f\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"p1\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Generally, you&#8217;ll experience elbow pain if you have the wrong technique or grip, or if you are too tense and squeezing the racket too hard!<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-b58d9d6 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"b58d9d6\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Whilst we&#8217;re not qualified physios or doctors we have had pretty much every injury there is between us! Luckily we have also had guidance on these injuries from some of the best medical professionals there are.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-0f61381 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"0f61381\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"p1\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">We would first recommend resting! Next we would recommend analysing when you are feeling the pain and any specific shots that cause it. From here you may look at addressing your technique or just how tight you are squeezing the racket and if this is necessary.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-c234806 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"c234806\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"p1\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Finally you may want to experiment with increasing the size of your grip so you either don&#8217;t have to squeeze as tight on some shots or feel less force through the grip. And if you already have a thick grip then it may be worth experimenting using a thinner grip.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-226aebf elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"226aebf\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">2. Shoulder Injuries In Badminton <\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-85e2ef5 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"85e2ef5\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"p1\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">It&#8217;s not surprising how many shoulder injuries there are in badminton considering we use our shoulders in pretty much\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: bolder; color: #333333;\">every<\/span><span style=\"color: #333333;\">\u00a0shot.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-09333dc elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"09333dc\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"p1\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Shoulder injuries are mainly caused by overuse or tightness of the muscles and joints in and around the shoulder. It is extremely important to keep your shoulder conditioned to cope with the amount of strain we put through it on court.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-3f556c1 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"3f556c1\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\">If you suddenly increase the amount you play, or do more smashes than usual in a session it is likely the muscles will be overworked and cause problems for your shoulder.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-75054b9 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"75054b9\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"p1\">There is a bit more to it than that, so we won&#8217;t bore you with the science behind the many different types of shoulder injuries! This will again help reduce injury and also improve the swing speed and power you are able to generate, and also your overall range of motion and movement on court. Firstly, this might be something more serious that can&#8217;t be solved by rest and exercises!\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: bolder; color: #333333;\">However<\/span><span style=\"color: #333333;\">\u00a0there could be a problem in your technique that is causing the ongoing pain.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-12c284a elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"12c284a\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"p1\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">This may be from using your shoulder too much in your smash and not creating rotation with other areas of your body such as your hips, or simply being too tense in your action and placing more strain through your shoulder this way!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-48ccd4b elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"48ccd4b\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">1. Knee Injuries In Badminton<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-8a958a5 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"8a958a5\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"p1\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Similar to the ankles, the continuous jumping, twisting and turning puts a lot of pressure on our knees. But we also have the added pressure of lunging at maximal speed. The combination of these means that there is a wide range of knee injuries, from injuries that put you out for 1-2 weeks, to injuries that put you out for months and months.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-ef0af28 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"ef0af28\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p style=\"color: #333333;\">Minimising the risk of knee injuries can be achieved by a combination of things:\u00a0<\/p><ol style=\"font-size: 18px; background-color: #ffffff; color: #333333;\"><li style=\"font-size: 18px;\">Strength work in the gym.<\/li><li style=\"font-size: 18px;\">Stretching.<\/li><\/ol>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-b3ba248 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"b3ba248\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\">If you are someone who generally struggles with knee pain, we would highly recommend putting a lot of focus into foam rolling and using a massage device into your hips, glutes and quads.
